31st December 2015

Today we visited Julie's family in Reybridge near Chippenham in Wiltshire. It was a sunny day but as the image shows a bit wet too. Nothing like the flooding over Christmas around the UK.
But this is going to be the last posting on this image a day. While it worked for my 50th year via my 365-2-50 blog, the drive to capture an image just for the sake of it has not fired my imagination.
As a New Year Resolution I'm slowly weaning myself off technology and the internet. It is a great resource but I miss being out there in the countryside, rather than reading about it on-line. I'm not disappearing but will mothball this blog and concentrate on my blog which I've had since 2007, Wessex Reiver. This is where I'll write articles and post about the natural world and countryside.

Warm enough to garden outdoors in shirt sleeves. Bizarre but welcome.

29th December 2015

Just 5 days late but at last the tree is decorated. Not just any tree. In August this was covered in flying ants in the garden and in 2007 it was a tiny sapling clinging to life at the edge of a forest track. It might not be the best looking tree for shape of size but it's my tree with a story.

28th December 2013

A box of books, by chance. When at my parents for Christmas I stumbled across 2 boxes of books, books I thought I'd lost forever, books from my time at university and before that, including a 16th birthday present. Having long lost hope of finding some of these books again, discovering them by chance has brought about some happy memories.

27th December 2015

Scrainwood Burn in full flow. After all the recent rain it was a wonderful day up in Northumberland. A trip up for both business and pleasure but as the weather was so bright I took the long route up the Coquet Valley..... up here I'm at peace with my life.

26th December 2015

Past, present and mobile future. For Christmas I received an old fashioned phone. I'm no luddite but I love some of the best that the past offered us. Modern phones provide infinitely more information than the old phones, but for my mind they are not as good for making calls, as I discovered when there was a power cut recently. So here it is, a 1970's phone but able to be used in 2015. I love it.
